Cat with wounded paw. Treatment suggestions?
‘Noel’ (see avatar picture) just came came in from her morning hunt and is favouring her right rear leg. Do not know what could have caused this injury but the two centre claws in her right rear foot have been totally ripped out. I have controlled the bleeding and cleaned out the foot the best I can without getting mauled and chewed. Now; what do I put on it.
I have three choices
1- common first aid cream
2 – petro Carbo Salve
3 – hydrogen peroxide
Wrapping the paw at this time is out of the question. The cleaning itself was stressful enough for both of us and the wound is currently not bleeding.
Our country vet is out on farm calls all day and won’t be back in the office until late tonight or tomorrow or I’d have her in there right now. I suspect that this will need to be stitched.
try to bathe it with salty water.
a teaspoon of tablesalt in a cup of warm water, just to keep it clean.
